Back To School

I feel like I'm the one going back to school, I am so anxious about it. Ryder is thrilled. He's been counting down the days.

I got a letter in the mail yesterday about what he needs to bring to school. Couldn't they have sent this letter a couple of weeks ago? At least it didn't come with a summer reading list. So now I have to go buy some things, including shoes, this weekend. Labor day weekend. The stores are going to be packed. I'm panicking just thinking about it.

And the bus. I found out what his bus schedule was going to be. He was originally supposed to be at a bus stop that is not near our house or daycare. I have no idea why they did that. But I got it worked out so that I put him on the bus in the morning by my house, then daycare will pick him up in the afternoon. The bus is early early so we need to start getting up much earlier.

I don't know how daycare fees work during the school year. I know that it is half price because it is half day, but what about vacations? Or weeks like next week when he only has school two days?

Oh, and I'm taking him out of school for days 2, 3, and 4 to go on a trip to Illinois. Hopefully that is not much of a problem. Well, even if it is, I've already bought the tickets.

  1. Well, at least there should be awesome sales this weekend. Hopefully you'll get a good enough deal to make up for having to fight the crowds! Good Luck with all of the planning and logistics of day care and have fun on your trip to Illinois!

  2. I can so relate to the panic of the big change from pre-school life to the big time. It all feels like so much. Even now that I have a 2nd grader, 4th grader and 8th grader this last week before school starts makes my heart beat faster! Just so you don't feel too bad I'm not ready either, no school supplies yet!! Yikes!! Somehow it all works out and just so you know all three times I have a kid in kindergarten it has been magical. They are so cute at that age and everything is new and exciting all over again!! Enjoy!!

  3. Aww mommy you sound stressed out. I suggest you take a day off for yourself as soon as you can. Not to shop or organize one thing. You would be amazed at how things can be rationalized into normalcy even if you just lay on the sofa all day and shut down.

  4. Raine... I completely understand how you feel. I personally like planning ahead, buying ahead and being prepared. ...and when something happens out of sorts that tries to discombobulate my day... I wait until about 4 or 5 and have a glass of wine! ;) grace, peace and blessings, Carla

  5. When I first dropped of my kid a preschool and we about a block away i glanced in the rear view to check on him and was horrified that he had disappeared. That 5 seconds of horror led to 15 min of embarrassment over the fact that it took 10 sec to forget that he was at school.

  8. School starts in June here in the Philippines, but as early as May I've completed everything in my son's school checklist. I wanted to avoid the shopping rush and the throng of mommies doing their last-minute shopping. :)
