Someone

I was at an indoor bouncy castle place once with Ryder. I was just hanging out, waiting for him when a couple of kids started fighting. It soon became physical when two boys started shoving a girl. I was shocked. I was even more shocked because someone should have been helping. Someone should break it up, but everyone was just standing around gawking. Then I realized that I was someone. I was someone who could tell these boys to stop. So I did. I jumped in and stopped it. I realized the importance of acting that day. If everyone just stood around saying that someone should do that, then nothing would ever get done. Someone needs to just do it and I try to be a someone who does.

  2. Great move--I've stepped in a few time--and receive DIRTY looks--I guess the parents just WANT to wait until someone ends up hurt--As a parent with out health insurance -I cannot afford needless trips to the doctors office !!!

  3. You did the right thing. There are so many times when I have wanted to intervene but have been afraid of the reaction of other adults. More people need to be more like you!

  4. It's so funny when that happens, when you realize that you are the someone that needs to step up. I'm so glad you were able to speak up and help. I have found that ever since I became a mother I am much quicker to be that someone!! Great post!

  6. I often have seen certain things happen where no one does get involved. In retrospect, I am always berating myself for not having done so. You have inspired me. Peace.

  8. Good for you - you did the right thing! I have no issue yelling at kids when there is even the slightest chance that my kids will get caught in the crossfire.

  9. good for you! I witnessed a little boy bullying a little girl, while both mothers were sitting there watching... I was shocked that the mother of the little girl did nothing. The mother of the little boy kept saying over and over again, "if you don't stop that I'm taking you home!" The Mother & the little girl finally left, but that left my daughter and her son, so he starts on my daughter by taking her toys, my little girl looks at me like help me Mom... I stood up and firmly told that little boy to give her the toy, and he hands it to her. I look the Mom square in the eye and say, if your son hits my daughter like he did that other little girl me and you are going to have a problem.

Often times people don't want to get involved or out of fear of consequence say nothing...

It is equally important to me that my children know that they are protected and that being treated badly is unacceptable.

    Thank you for sharing.
